Second Day at Kagoshima KOSEN

By: Hugo Lindfors

Kagoshima & Kagoshima KOSEN

Breakfast and morning routine

The day started of like normal. I woke up at about 5.00 AM. Then, a bit later, we (the class) ate our breakfast. Then we walked to the train station and embarked for our journey to Kagoshima KOSEN. The journey was short and pleasant.

Period 1: English Class

The first period was English class. In this period there were three classes present. Each class had a short presentation.

The first department to present was Mechanical Engineering. It seemed pretty interesting… and advanced. After the presentation I asked them if their subjects were hard, and the vast majority replied that it was hard. Then the second class presented. This was the most interesting presentation too us as a class considering how they worked with programming and development. They got to answer lots of questions from me and Samuel. Lastly the third class presented. It was also very interesting.

Period 2: PBL

The second period was PBL or (Project-Based Learning). In our case it’s about building a chat app using ASP.NET Core with Blazor and SignalR.

Sebastian-sensei’s special lecture

The third period was very special. Sebastian-sensei, that’s Sebastian Jensen (one of T4-22’s teachers) had some kind of lecture for the japanese students (and us). Afterwards the japanese students had presentations about solutions for some problems, like spilling coffee, a pet’s food being too low or high and many others. After this there was one more class of PBL.

Bowling

After school the entire class went out to bowl. It was pretty nice. I usually suck at bowling and to be completely honest this wasn’t much of an exception, but I still fared all right, I even managed to get some spares and strikes. We also had the opportunity to socialize and share some treats. After the bowling there was some minor inconveniences with the payment. Japanese people typically pay using cash which is inconvenient since it demands that one of the parties have etiquette change. Although this was frustrating everything still worked out in the end. We returned back from the bowling to APA Hotel and that was the T4-22’s 19th of January 2023.
